Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Oh, that's great! Now, I would love to pinpoint each picture to a book. Some I can't recall!

1. Chinese Fireworks

2. Beekeeping with the Nun

3. Ride a bike without a helmet

4. Firearm safety with squirrel (I know MaryM loves that picture. Isn't that squirrel so CUTE!!)

5. Bad manners

6. Sailboating without lifejackets and a loose cat

7. Eating snow

8. No collar or leases on the dogs

9. Boy with a gun AND holding a live bear!

10. Bridge endangerment

11. Burning leaves in the open

12. Jumping and swimming off rocks

13. Standing in front of cannons

14. Barrel Drinking alcohol

15. Public indecency

16. Cow love

17. Plane crash

18. Two tightrope walkers

19. Netting the lion

20. Elephants driving car (and they aren't Babar).

Anyone want to stab at the list -- book's name and illustrator? I'm disappointed that I don't recognize all of them readily.

Isn't "eating snow" Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats?

I'm very curious about the beekeeping one, too! No idea.

Whoops, I thought your list was the ones you didn't know

Let's see, I probably knew only half, though I haven't counted. I, too, was embarrassed that I didn't know more.

That's one I did know. I'm pretty sure it's White Snow, Bright Snow, illustrated by Roger Duvoisin; text: Alvin Tresselt

Those are definitely illustrations by Robert Lawson. I think it's from Wee Gillis or They Were Strong and Good. We just read Wee Gillis but I can't remember. He's one of my favorite ultimate illustrators. (I'm fond of black and white).

I think the jumping and swimming off rocks is Time of Wonder. It isn't One Morning in Maine (I have that one memorized )

You're probably right -- I was thinking the Maine book because there was already one from Time of Wonder.

Let's see the second (#18)tight rope is The Man Who Walked Between The Towers (we just read this for 911)

and the (#20) Elephant in bus is A Sick Day for Amos McGee

Just a correction #6: sail boat with cat is actually The Little Island by Margaret Wise Brown and Leonard Weisgard

BTW: this was caught by my oldest, I let her take a stab at the ones we were missing

Changed our minds about the bad manners one - looks familiar but we don't think it's D'Aulaire, but we can't place it. Time to scour the shelves!

I kept thinking the same thing, but it doesn't seem right.
