Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has everyone but me known about this great little book? We got it on a whim, and my kids have enjoyed so much. Lots to study as we read: music and different kinds of instruments, the importance of perseverance and teamwork, arachnids and insects, even some neat language arts stuff like homonyms and rhyming. So fun!

I'm sure there are plenty of folks who are not familiar with Manuelo...so it's always good to mention. It hasn't been mentioned by name on the boards. I was not familiar with the book until a few years ago. I knew Don Freeman primarily as the author of the Courdury books and also Fly High, Fly Low. It was only in the the last few years that I found many of his other books - all these very cute animal books. So I give it a big up, too, Kiera.

Another favorite Don Freeman book of ours was one that was never published in his lifetime. It was discovered posthumously and published just a few years ago - Earl the Squirrel. Really cute book! I can't beleive I didn't do a picture book of the day thread on it - I meant to.

Other Don Freeman books are mentioned in these threads.
