I am looking for knitting picture books for a field trip I am preparing. This is the list of books that I have read. Can anyone add ones that I am missing!!!

I am cross-posting this one as it is just too nice to miss. A knitter/designer friend from Loveland, CO has just published her first picture book (with illustrations by her very talented husband) called Phoebe's Sweater by Joanna Johnson. It is a beautiful story about Phoebe the mouse whose mom is expecting a baby mouse and so can't play with her but can knit her a beautiful new sweater ... it is a lovely book about mother culture and family and extended family ... The pictures are beautiful and soft and just lovely.
But, and here's the really cool part ... Joanna includes patterns for Phoebe's sweater (in real kid sizes) as well as a knitted Phoebe Mouse doll ... how cool is that?
Check it out ... it is very cool!

On a Jack Kent kick right now and rediscovered this one. Cute book. In addition to the knitting has an O. Henry twist to surprise the reader at the end.

It's not a picture book - in fact there are no pictures in the edition I read, but it is a super short chapter book. Since we don't have another thread dedicated to knitting I figured I put it here.
Safe Return (Catherine Dexter)
It is based on a true story that was written about in The Swedish Mitten Book. In the early 1800s, the women of Gotland (island off Sweden coast) went around the island collecting handknit sweaters and mittens to take to Stockholm to sell. They called themselves "sweaterhags". In 1824 the returning ship was thought to be lost at sea in a storm. This short children's book builds a fictitious story around that incident. Lots of knitting references in the book and a great story of patience and hope as a young girl learns to knitting while waiting for the ship to return. Just a heads up, there is one boy in the story who is a bully and there is some name calling. Also references superstitions of the island people.
I think all knitters will really enjoy this story.

And adding another picture book: Knit Your Bit: A World War I Story by Deborah Hopkinson, illustrated by Steven Guarnaccia
Historical fiction, based on actual events in 1918. Great book showing how everyone got involved in the effort to send knitted items to the soldiers during WWI -- even men and boys. This story is about how a young boy whose father was in the War, learned to knit and joined the knitting competition.
My boys enjoyed it, and I think it's a good nudger to get boys involved in handicrafts like knitting. The end provides websites to continue knitting for our current soldiers. And there are actual photos in the endpapers of boys and girls knitting during that time.

My little ones always loved Knitty Kitty. In fact, we still use the line "cozy, comfy, toasty" when we all snuggle up together

This is a really sweet story. Has several themes: knitting, wool, spinning, deafness, sign language, mothers, babies, generosity, creativity.
Highly recommended.

Humorous book about a never ending supply of yarn. A little girl finds a box filled with yarn and decides to knit herself a sweater. Since she has extra yarn she knits a sweater for her dog. She continues to have extra yarn so knits and knits, and knits, and covers everything in town. Until someone is greedy and decides to steal the box from her. Won't tell how it ends. Cute book.
