Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

This is a great, great educational video for kids- about a year on a Vermont Dairy farm. We love it- it shows quilting, making maple sugar, playing in the snow, and, of course, taking care of the cows. 4 AM- rise and shine!- time for milking. Our library has it.

This Farm Unit thread has some suggestions which might fit the bill.

I love, love, love this one - Tuttle's Red Barn.

Gail Gibbons has some informative ones:
Farming -
The Vegetables We Eat

And you mentioned the goats. Patricia Polacco has a couple about goats.

Oh, Look!
G is for Goat

Any other animals on the farm? I love the Kim Lewis books - mostly feature sheep and border collies. Lovely books.

I just got Cabbages and Kings, and it is a very sweet story about a cabbage and an asparagus that make friends in the garden. The illustrations are by Jamie Wyeth (grandson of NC Wyeth). It is oop, but basically available for shipping on Amazon. The asparagus "teaches" the cabbage about gardens, so, I found it a fun teaching story, though it isn't quite so charming as Thornton Burgess or some of the books listed above (like Maple Hill Farm).

I have to add "How Groundhog's Garden Grew" by Lynne Cherry - not necessarily on a "farm" but introduces organic and heritage farming ideas that you can do in your own small garden.

I like "The Little Goat" and others by Judy and Phoebe Dunn.

Have fun!
