This was a new book for us.

The dc were engrossed- dd has been very interested in Tubamn anyways but it was so great to have some information about her as child and woman not just "Great Historical Leader"

It is by Glennette Tilley Turner.

one caveat-There is short scene where she was beaten as a small child with a whip by and adult man that really made dd mad. The look on tubman's face in this scene is great- so determined.

But preview it if your dc are really sensitive. My ds who is four was very interested in the book and since the picture isnt horribly graphic if was ok for him -he thought tubman looked like a friend of ours and was puzzled about the concept of an grown up hurting a kid- his desicison was "im glad its history" but dd at that age would have been too upset.

The book is really great overall so check at your library.
