Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Before I discovered this book at a library book sale, I did not realize that Tet was the Vietnamese name for the Lunar New Year (not just a military opporation) and a 4 day celebration not just one like our New Year.

This is a simple counting book with rich endnotes and illustrations. The illustrations were inspired by embroideries from a Vietnamese village. First they were drawn by the illustrator, then embroidered and then photographed with a special camera for publishing. We used the endnotes to inspire us on a 10 rabbit trail adventure about Vietnam.

It sounds lovely. I think that books illustrated in native or cultural handicraft sytles are just beautiful and so good for rabbit trails. The info on Tet was very informative.
