I just read the post about finding a good deal at Cosco for Flower Fairy books. This is the first I've heard of them! My daughter is six and just showed interest in fairies for Christmas. At the last minute I got her fairies at WalMart from Disney. Her grandmother had bought her a Disney Fairy chapter book and she loved it. I was not so impressed, so I've been hoping to find better literature about fairies. Is this it?! Any advice on where I should start with these books? I would like to try some from the library.
HELP!

You should look for books by Cicely Mary Barker. Her books are gorgeous and botanically accurate, done in the 20's, I think.
She was a Catholic and did some holy cards too!

I checked online with my library. They have one book by Cicely Barker and all other chapter books only have her illustrations but written by Kay Woodward. I then checked out the Flower Fairy website. They have several books written and illustrated by Barker. They seem like the ones I would be interested in. When I saw they were written in the 20's, I just melted! The pictures are beautiful. I showed my daughter and she loeved them too. So, I am thinking I'm safe to buy before seeing. I don't like to do that, but I have no choice. I was thinking of starting out with Flower Fairies of the Spring (out of stock with Winter). I hope I could use this for our nature study.

Do you have a Sam's Club near you? I know that they are more common in the South than Costco. I saw the set at Sam's Club a couple weeks ago for $20.

Yes, I think you are safe to buy without seeing. Everyone I know who has used these has loved them. They are lovely and very sweet.

Jenn,
We're devoting a whole year to studies starting with Flower Fairies. We've loved every minute of our studies and will pick up where we left off after Christmas. You might want to spend some time exploring the Flower Fairy website and I heartily recommend the CD of Flower Fairy Alphabet Songs.

Thank you everyone! I'm going for it!
Elizabeth, thank you for all the information. I'm getting really excited!!!
I'm on Amazon trying to decide what to purchase. I'm looking at The Complete Book of the Flower Fairies or A Delux Book of Flower Fairies. Any suggestions?

Elizabeth,
When I went onto Serendipity, my daughter was here watching and screamed, "That's the tea set I got for Christmas!" I couldn't believe it either!

My 5 yo daughter received the Fairy Finds Game for Christmas and it is just too cute. The game board and pieces are so lovely and each set comes in little gossamer bags. All the players work together to get their Fairy Finds into the Fairy Circle before the troll takes over the circle. It's a perfect "little girl" tea party game.

I asked for this for my Birthday
I didn't get it, but I did get money, so I was thinking of buying it anyway
I did get How To Find Flower Fairies which is a lovely pop-up book that is just beautiful. And also, Flower Fairies Magical Moonlight Feast, which is also cute.

For Christmas I bought my toddler the Flower Fairy Alphabet book and my mother a Flower Fairy Alphabet jigsaw - matching presents across an 80 year age gap .
