Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone know of a good illustrated version of Samuel Coleridge's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner? I'm looking for:

1)great art here that speaks alongside the poem for the child not yet reading but listening next to mom and older siblings
2)correct, authentic adaptation of the poem

Well, I have one. But it is at home in NC and I can't seem to find it online anywhere. If you can wait a couple of weeks til I'm home I can send it to you.
Sorry, not much help here.

So, Cay, I saw your request and since our library had a version I thought I'd check it out. This version is illustrated by Caldecott winner, Ed Young (published 1992, Atheneum). It is illustrated with a combination of smaller charcoal drawings on most pages with large full-size two-page pastel spreads every few pages. It is not an adaptaion of the poem though - it is the actual text with sidenotes. I think the illustrations are very well done, eyecatching and dramatic - it does speak alongside the poem. Doesn't look like this version is readily available though (maybe the same one Theresa mentioned). Couldn't find any more picturebooky adaptations.
