Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just had to share -- we got ours today -- a family Christmas gift to ourselves!

Narnia 4-Disc Extended DVD Gift Set with Bookends

Overstock also has it without the bookends.

Lucky you, I've been wanting to buy this but wasn't sure if there was enough "extras" for the price. We already bought the first version that was released earlier this year but if the extended is anything like the LOTR extended version, it'll be worth every penny!
Please let us know if you don't mind.

Sure, Maddie! We plan to watch some of it tonight and more 'til the New Year, so I'll post as soon as we're done with the 4 discs.

But wanted to add that in the disc package (we just opened it), there's a $10 rebate coupon -- all you need are the proof of purchase from your original 1- or 2-disc DVD set and the proof of purchase from the 4 disc plus the receipt from the 4-disc. So if you took advantage of this the final cost for this set from Overstock would be around $44. Not bad for a 4-disc set and bookends! Oh, and the bookends are REALLY heavy, and nicely detailed. We're really pleased with it. Now we can use it to hold our Narnia books, CDs, and DVDs.

PS the rebate offer expires January 31.

Did you watch all of the extended version, Stef? Can't wait to hear your opinion.

How lovely Stef! A bit like the lovely sets they had each year for the LOTF - extended versions with collectable bookends!

I just wonder if and when they will release another Narnia movie from the series......does anyone know?

Maddie, I'm sad to report -- the movie disc itself was a disappointment. One scene we were hoping would be included in the extended edition -- the dancing at the coronation -- wasn't there. (We knew they had filmed it because a short portion was in the deleted scenes.) Added shots -- beautiful ones -- of some scenes, a few lines here and there, but not much.

That said, the bookends are really nice, we adults/big kids enjoyed the CS Lewis feature (5-yo said "it's just talk") and the 4th disc that contained behind-the-scenes stuff, we always enjoy that, still made it worth it for us.

I just wish when they sell "extended" stuff, like LOTR, the feature really IS extended, i.e., way more than you would have gotten at the theatre.

Anne, they're releasing the next one in Summer 2008: Prince Caspian. We can't wait!

Bummer. I was afraid of that. I too was looking for the dance scenes I saw in a trailer but never saw in the movie. Thank you so much for the update, the children will be disappointed. LOTR was an amazing exception I guess. We were SO thrilled/spoiled with the extra hour or so in the Return Of the King. We are hoping they will come out with The Hobbit soon!
