Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone know of some good children's titles for the following topics:

Separatists living in England and then Holland (found-William Bradford: Plymouth's Faithful Pilgrim by Gary D. Schmidt)

William Brewster biography (still need)

Rembrandt biography (found-A Weekend with Rembrandt by Pascal Bonafoux)

Our library doesn't seem to have anything good on these topics. So, I thought I would buy a few books.

The books would be for independent reading during Thanksgiving.

Thank you,

Anya

Make sure you preview the book on William Bradford. Though I've not come across any children's books relating to the Pilgrims to be offensive, I was quite taken aback when reading Bradford's own diary "On Plymouth Plantation" (hopefully I'm close on the title, it's up in the bathroom). He was quite anti-Catholic. I had thought about having my oldest dd (7th grade) read this as it's an original source, but I'm not going to now (maybe in a couple of more years). Anyway, just wanted to give a heads up since it's for independent reading. You never know when an author or publisher might want to play up that side of Bradford.

Thanks for the caution, Valerie. I didn't know this. I am not familiar with any of these books, but they are highly recommended reading. I will pre-read them all first.
