Sorry. I looked all through the archived posts and only came up with 4 (Redwall, Mossflower, Mattimeo, and Mariel) of the many, many books in the Redwall series. So now I know how my kids should read the first four, but in what order should my kids read the rest of them?
By the way, I want to thank Michael Foss for his review of Harry Potter which led to my children's sudden desire to read the Redwall series. My eldest, now 12, had avoided these books before because they were, in his words, "too fat." I read Michael's review to the whole lot of my kids at breakfast this morning and they can't scramble to get enough copies of Redwall.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! And please feel free to write more reviews, Michael. You have a good influence on my chilren.

I have been investigating this same thing as my 11 year old has just gotten into the books. I read somewhere here on 4real that Brian Jacques says to read them in the order that they were written. Today I found a website where the person says that this is important because of the surprises that are messed up if you read them "chronologically".
Here's the link
It is highly recommended that you read the books in the order they were published!
That way you avoid having some fun surprises spoiled.
You should definitely read Mossflower before The Long Patrol and Lord Brocktree, Salamandastron before Marlfox, Redwall before Taggerung and Mattimeo, and Mariel of Redwall before The Bellmaker. In other words, you really are best off reading them in the publication order.
The publication order of the Redwall books
Redwall
Mossflower
Mattimeo
Mariel of Redwall
Salamandastron
Martin the Warrior
The Bellmaker
Outcast of Redwall
The Great Redwall Feast
Pearls of Lutra
The Long Patrol
Marlfox
Legend of Luke
A Redwall Winter's Tale
Lord Brocktree
Taggerung
Triss
Loamhedge
Rakkety Tam
High Rhulain

Oh, and here's the link to Michael's review in the Arlington Catholic Herald (August 2000)
Don't let this stop you from ordering Real Learning though. It is absolutely wonderful and you can even get a signed one directly from Elizabeth!

Thanks for the list, Jen. That's *just* what I needed. I forgot the order in which they were written. I didn't even know that there were four *more* books to the set since I last looked (you'll have to forgive me...we've been living abroad for the last four years).
The link you made didn't work for me.

Glad I could help.
I just tested the links and they both work for me. Has anyone else had a problem?
