Maybe you all can help...
I was all excited about using the Prairie Primer this year with my 10 yrold dd and 8 yr ds. Well, dd balked because she has already read the series twice and also hates "activities". Ds thinks they are girl books, despite the fact that he is an ardent AG reader.

But, they are both completely absorbed in Redwall at the present. So that leaves me thinking, wishing for a Prairie Primer for Redwall. But apparently I am out of luck and finding myself in a position I never thought I would be... wanting to plan my own unit study!!!

My ds was excited when I told him we could do a study of small mammals, abbeys, etc. But I could use some suggestions. This is not my thing if you know what I mean.

I am open to any and all suggestions. One disadvantage I have is that they are reading them so fast, that I barely have a grasp of the storyline.

I have this Redwall teaching guide that is pretty good.
Redwall: A teaching guide
It has alot of vocab, study questions, activities, etc. We never used it, though as it is just not our style.
I think Redwall would go great with a medieval unit. Also mammals, birds, etc.

Something I do with Marianna is limit her reading on the books we base our studies on. So for instance, even though we'd read the Little House books before we spent all last year on them, reading only 2 chapters or so a day. Otherwise she'd be done with them in a week. I provide lots of other related reading that she can gulp as quickly as she wants but the books that are for schooling, we slow down on.

Well, I got one started here that I didn't finish organizing -- waiting for our next Redwall week. You might find something useful in some of the links. Also got a recipe here

We've got a few other recipes that haven't made it to the blog, plus pictures of swords and other "art pieces" that the kids worked on. They also started a family tree of sorts for the animals of Redwall.
