Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone seen the new movie of this book by E. Nesbitt? Its out now for the school holidays.

My nine year old is reading the novel now, before we see the movie. I read it aloud several years ago to the older dc.

Am wondering what the movie is like.....We like the book ( but, then, I liked all the Nesbitt books when I was a girl!)

I saw an old movie (called _The Sand Fairy_ here in the US), and it was OK, but not great. I had not heard of a new one. Is there a trailer or website, Leonie?

Hope you are settling in to the new place !

Found the trailer. I t looks as though it takes a bit of liberty with thte story, but sometimes that is better...I await your review, Leonie. I am not sure it will be released here.

This is from the Capitol movie web site:

Some fans of Nesbit's much-loved novel may be upset by liberties taken by Solomons and first-time feature helmer John Stephenson. Many plot details have been altered, and new characters -- including creepy young Cousin Horace (Alexander Pownall), a budding mad scientist -- have been added. Auds unfamiliar with source material probably will more readily accept "FIVE CHILDREN AND IT" as old-fashioned kid-centric fantasy with a quaintly British air and a gently cautionary moral.

Thanks, MacBeth. I didn't realsie that it wasn't for general release. The movie opened here in Sydney last week, in time for the end of Term 1 holidays.

Anthony is enjoying the book so much that I think we will go and see the movie anyway - don't think I'll mind the deviations from the book!
