Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi Ladies,

I want to get my nephew (age 10) a biography of a saint for his birthday. He likes military things and rocks and nothing girly. Any ideas? I thought of St. Francis Xavier as he was a soldier. Any other "tough guy" saints out there?

Thanks,
Kelly Lang mom to two boys so far, 7 and 3

let's see what is on my shelf.........

how about Saint Isaac and the Indians by Lomask

Father Marquette and the Great Rivers by Derlett???

both Vision books that I think are reprinted......

He would probably LOVE the Tom Playfair series by Father Finn. "I" love the series myself! and Willa and I were just talking about them last night.......about how her 15yo dd thinks ALL Catholic boys should read or be read to with this series. I could not agree more! TAN sells them.

Tom is ALL boy. There is a murder mystery involved in the first and third book........and in each book, there is death.......but everything is holy......and pious.....and good is good and evil is evil. Never have there been books written for boys with so much virtue.

we are reading Father Finn's Lord Bountiful right now as a matter of fact. Anyone missing out on his books.........needs to get into them......wouldn't you agree, Willa?!

freezing........brrrrrr.....

How about St. Ignacious? He was a knight, then he was wounded in battle, then he became a priest.
