Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There are many G.A. Hentybooks that are free for the kindle at Amazon. My ds will be studying medieval history next year. Can you give any recommendations from this list of books? I know Henty is not Catholic and I just want to be careful what I choose about this time period.
Thanks!

Angelicum Academy has a substantial number of Henty books listed in their literature recommendations by grade. I don't know, but I *assume* they are not recommending the more anti-Catholic options. I don't know the Henty books well enough, but that is where I would start. I hope someone else is familiar enough to offer specific recommendations.

Some past Henty threads that could be helpful:

Which GA Henty novels aren't ok?
Heny novels?
Henty books

This was in another thread:

My boys like some of the GA Henty books. There is a concern about anti-Catholicism in some books - but we have not found any so far. This articleby Martin Cothran is interesting and highlights some Henty books which may be a problem.

Thank you for the link, Marilyn. Interesting article. My oldest son really enjoyed Henty and save for the occasional books to watch out for, he is very good.

The link to the Cothran article is not working. I was trying to find it on site but with no luck. It was a helpful article. Anyone know where to find it now?
