that someone posted about here a looong time ago...it was comical and a children's book about a dog, told from the dog's point of view. It's master does the bare minimum to take care of him.

Now there is something that the owner gets, like wishes or something ... but the dog ends up EATING it and the dog's wish is to become the master and the master become the dog.

Takes place in France.

Can anyone help me with the title please?

It was just so cute and the ending takes you totally by surprise. It's a one!

Is it The Sweetest Fig? Not comical (from amazon description. I haven't read the book) or from dog's POV, but it sort of fits your description.
