Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm finally breaking down to buy a few of his Cds. Is the Greathall site the best place to buy them? If you could only get a few Cds which ones would you get?

Thanks

Nicole,
We're big Jim Weiss fans here. The kids and dh had a chance to see him perform a few weeks ago, and it was great. I was home sick and had to miss it. Ds8 rec'd 2 cd's for his bday last month.

You can definitely get better prices per CD than at the Greathall site, but his shipping price is a flat $5, so that's nice. There do seem to be a lot used at amazon.

It depends a lot on your kids' interests, but we love The Jungle Book, Famously Funny, Robin Hood/3 Musketeers, Greek Myths and King Arthur. I'd love to get more of them.

LOL...After reading Lissa's post today, I want to listen to Jim Weiss, too. For some reason Greek myths seem to be a really good choice....

I was laughing out loud at Lissa's post, and green with envy that she had the entire Jim Weiss collection.

Maybe someday....

we pick according to what we are doing in history. this past year we listened to greek myths (loved it!), egyptian tales and heroes/mythology (another fav). next year we are getting shakespear for kids, king arthur, robin hood. we have gotten all of ours from rainbow resources. you might check your library first - ours had a few but none that were as good as the history cds.

I want them all! Oldest (11 next month) loved King Arthur, The Queen's Pirate, and Robin Hood/Three Musketeers, if memory serves. 6 & 4 yos love Animal Tales and we all loved A Christmas Carol. That's more than a few isn't it? They *are* so good!

It's kind of funny how we got hooked on Jim Weiss. My then 2 1/2 ds was having trouble sleeping in our new house after we'd moved. Someone (I think on the CCM loop) recommended the Jim Weiss Sweet Dreams cd. My ds LOVED it! Caution: don't listen to it if you want to stay awake! His voice is very soothing on this cd as he talks about being at a farm. Christopher used to just start quoting this cd during the day.

We've now listend to many others. Christopher loves Tales from the Old Testament, but his hands-down favorite is King Arthur. I think he listened to it everynight for at least a month. He knew every story by heart. I keep adding more to our wishlist. My library has several of them as well, but I would like to own them.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of his CD's. We don't have the whole collection but we have a lot of them. We love them all. My boys usually listen to them at night when they are going to sleep. We also listen to them during road trips. We have seen him perform a few times and I have heard him talk on storytelling at a conference.

I'm bumping this and asking again, "What is your favorite Jim Weiss CD?" I'm finally making the switch from my cassettes to CDs and having a hard time deciding...

Love,

I look forward to seeing the replies because I just learned about him two months ago when I received two cd's in my RC History package. We've listened to Tales from the Old Testement and the kids and I love it!

Thank's for starting this topic again, Angie!

I haven't listened in awhile, but I remember personally liking the OT stories.

I ordered the Chanakah stories by accident when I was trying to order the Christmas stories. My kids loved them! We also loved King Arthur and Ancient Egypt. Also, Sherlock Holmes. I wish I could get them all!         &n bsp;
