Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a small gift card for Amazon, and I'm having a difficult time choosing which book to get for me son. We're still in the process of slowly switching to Living Books. I'm getting him Once Upon A Time Saints, but I'd like to get something else in addition to that. We have quite a shortage of books about Saints and the Faith, books that are based on outdoor adventures and nature, as well as books about any American history. If you'd swap out Once Upon a Time Saints with any other Saints book, please let me know! Ideally, I'd like to get a book that covers each category listed above, but that depends on the cost of the book, and whether it's listed as an Amazon Prime item. I have it narrowed down to:

Riding the Pony Express

The Book of Cowboys

The Burgess Animal Book for Children

Parables From Nature

The Burgess Bird Book for Children

Fables

The Childrens Book of Heroes

Father Phillip Tells A Ghost Story

The Childrens Book of America

That's a tough one. All of those books will be great additions to your library and used for years to come.

But if you son is that young, I would consider
Children's Book of Heroes, mainly because the story of Mother Teresa is very good to use for your son.

Burgess Bird Book is a dear book and one of our favorites. We're really into Burgess. You might start with the Bedtime Stories collection. National Review has a two volume set.

If you have an e-reader, keep in mind that most of the Burgess books are free for the Kindle at Amazon.

Also, several of the books on your list are eligible for the 4 for the price of 3 promotion at Amazon. (Just to make your GC stretch a little further.)

Father Phillip is a good one, but it did spook my ds a little last year when we read it for the first time (he was 7).

Now, he does not like anything scary (leaves the room when my dd asks me to read Nancy Drew to her out loud), and some kids might be fine with it at a younger age.

I was just glad I had waited on that one til he was older.

I'm a big fan of these Bennett/Hague "Children's-Virtues" books. We have all of them, except one, I think. (Virtues, Heroes, America, Home & Family) Love them all and they get a lot of use here.

The Burgess books are good too....but you can get them other ways now.
