Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

by Dinah M Mulock. I recently picked up a used copy at a yard sale. Apparently, it is a classic. But for whatever reason I have never read it.
Any opinions pro or con?

I read it something like 30 yrs ago and I recall liking it and seem to remember it fondly. I'd think it's worth pre-reading at least.

It is a sweet lovely book! There are parts that are sad, if your child is sensitive. He gets dropped as a baby and becomes lame, and is hidden away because there is no such thing as a lame king. He has a fairy godmother who gives him a magic traveling cloak. The ending is wonderful.

Okay then! I'll add it to the read-aloud stack. Thanks!
