Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The last two nights we read The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams (Bianco) with the original illustrations by William Nicholson.

My sons found it wonderful. The end made everything perfect. Today my oldest gave a sigh and said, "That is a great book, especially the end when he becomes real." Happy endings he just loves.

I'm usually one to prefer the original illustrations, but at the library today in the new books section, we saw a new version by Gennady Spirin. It's beautiful!

This is so sweet, Jennifer.

Thanks for the recommendation. Honestly, our version of The Velveteen Rabbit is unabridged, but I don't like the illustrations at all (not the originals), so I treat the book as a read-aloud and don't show them to the children. I'll have to check out Spirin's for sure.

I just got this in the mail yesterday. I bought two copies. The illustrations are nice if your kids like to color and then they have their own personalized book. I absolutely love the story. Just thought I would share!
