Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

a book called Whirligig House by Anna Rose Wright?
Our 5th grade teacher read it aloud to us and I loved it. It's always on my mind over the holidays and I'm constantly (not reaaly constantly) searching for it at every thrift store/library sale. Only problem is that all her works are out of print and very expensive! So how do we get Guttenberg online books to get a particular title out there??

Anyone have it? I guess I should check ILL, but I've never even seen it at the library!

I'm not familiar with it. What is it about? It sounds intriguing.

I checked World Cat (which is an ILL type service) and found copies around the country.

Well, I barely remember the specifics but it was about a family with 5 kids. I'm pretty sure the mother is sick. The kids have colors for all their things to help keep things organized....red for the oldest, then blue, etc......

I just remember it being such a sweet book about the relationships between the kids and how they all pulled together to make the best of everything and care for eachother in the face of poverty and with only dad making do for them. The part I really remember is Christmas section and the oldest 2 have a tradition of "secretly" buying each other Christmas treats and then sneaking to the tree late on Christmas eve to exchange with just each other. They are old enough to remember when their mother was there.

I'll check those links from World Cat even though when I go to the direct library like Columbus (45 min from me) they say they don't have it or anything by her! Maybe a real town like Chicago will ;)

Thanks!
