Are there any Anne of Green Gables unit studies outhere on the web.
We are putting on an Anne of Green Gables day camp and would love to have suggestions for activities for the camp.
THanks

Here are a couple of ideas that might be helpful -- I haven't used either of these myself, but they look like they might be interesting.

A unit study for purchase can be found here.

Some more "supplemental" ideas (I think that free website looks great!)
Here is a neat "punch out" model of the Green Gables home that you might use.
I haven't seen this book; it looks interesting (but pretty short): Anne of Green Gables in the Classroom

The Annotated Anne of Green Gables has lots of information and recipes (see listing). It's on my wish list :-)
I believe this cookbook is at my library (check yours or do an Inter Library Loan):
The Anne of Green Gables Cookbook
Now, if I can just get to Louisiana for the day camp! Sounds like fun!

Just a warning........the unit study written by Margie Gray (www.cadroncreek.com) is written for high schoolers.
I believe it says 7th grade and up, but my friend's daughter is using it in 11th grade this year. I spoke with her, because we're very interested in using this study sometime in the years to come for our daughter.
When speaking with Elizabeth, the young homeschool girl, she said her family used this with she and her sister in 7th grade, and she's re-doing it in 11th, because it's more written for the high school years.
I asked her if it was beneficial to do it in both, and she said she thinks it'd be better for us to wait until high school to use the study, as it's very meaty and rich, and she thinks our daughter would get so much more out of it by waiting until high school to use it.
I hope this info helps.

Where the Brook and River Meet is a very well put together unit study and as Tracy said, it is definitely at the high school level. What makes this unit especially appealing is that the student is gradually introduced to higher levels of independent research, critical thinking and writing. I bought this for our soon to be 10th grade dd, but was hoping that it would also work for our 7th grader. Once I skimmed the unit, it was obvious that the 7th grader could do the work but that she would not benefit from the research and writing as much as an older child. Since that is one of the outstanding features of the program, it's benefits would have been lost on her.
Incidentally, there are a few bugs in the unit for Catholics (e.g., the understanding of the influence of St. Thomas Aquinas on society) but these are not major problems and can serve as extra critical thinking opportunities.
We are very excited to start this in August. Anyone want to join us?
Andrea

Hmmm, I haven't seen this unit study yet, though many people have mentioned it. Maybe it's something my dd would like to join in on, though. Might be a fun way to ease back into school at the end of the summer!
BTW Is this my old friend, Andrea C???
