Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Soo...we're heading out of town on Friday for a 4+ hour drive and my voracious 11 yo DD needs something to read (prob. 3-4 books!) I was thinking something about America and Independence Day to tie that in with this week-end. I'm heading to the library tomorrow morning...anyone have any quick suggestions?

Thanks,

So, I barely had time to check emails and saw your note and didn't even write it down...just figured I'd remember it when I got there. However, with the wild 2 1/2 yr old in tow, I was looking for another book for her in the Newberry Award section that I had written down and up I look, and Johnny Tremain was staring me in the face! How ironic!! Grabbed it, looked at it, looks great, checked it out...all is good!

Thanks again!

Since you were at the library today it's probably too late for more suggestions for this trip, huh? Johnny Tremain is a great one.

I was also going to suggest:
My Brother Sam is Dead - Collier
Guns for the Saratoga - Stephen Meader
Amos Fortune Free Man - Elizabeth Yates

Love 2 Learn has a nice review - two pages worth - of revolutionary war living books. I had forgotten about Johnny Treegate's Musket and The Reb and the Red Coats published by Bethlehem Books. The one is by Constance Savery who was recently mentioned and highlighted in another thread.
