As I was commenting in another thread, I remembered some of the religious themed books that I read and reread and just loved.
1. Outlaws of Ravenhurst by Sr. M. Imelda Wallace
2. Sun Slower, Sun Faster by Meriol Trevor
3. St. Patrick's Summer by Marigold Hunt
4. Mary's Pilgrim: Life of St. by the Daughters of St. Paul
5. Father Brennan's Favorite Stories
Those were my top religious themed books. But then I started thinking about my all-time favorite books I read and reread as a girl into a young woman. I just really loved them that much.
1. The Velvet Room by Zilpha Keatley Snyder
2. Little House Books by Laura Ingalls Wilder
3. Shadow Castle by Marian Cockrell
4. Stories from Other Lands, Folklore of the World, a series by Edward Dolch. Loved these!
5. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
6. (ETA: I thought of this last night but forgot to type it in my list!) Gone-Away Lake and especially Return to Gone-Away by Elizabeth Enright
I know there were many, many more that I read and reread, but just thinking of my top lists, what I checked out over and over and what was in my hands from our home library...
ETA: Favorite of all time would be The Velvet Room.
What do you remember as your favorite read-again books from Childhood? and can you pick one over-all favorite?

I've already had to change something that I remembered. Last night the Gone-Away books were high on my list, but I plumb forgot about them until right now!

I was a voracious reader as a child but I wasn't exposed to the classics, which disappoints me now. I read mostly contemporary books that would probably be thought of as twaddle now.
I do remember reading the Beverly Cleary books-all of them--as well as all of the Carolyn Haywood books and Jean Little books. I have been wanting to introduce them to my dd. I think this would be a great time as many. I did read some of the Little House books but I don't think I read the whole series.

Off the top of my head, the ones not on your list:
1) I STILL read the Anne of Green Gables books at least every other year!
2) The Narnia Books! Read them again and again!
I haven't read lots of the books on your list! I think I'll add those to my library queue!

hmm....looks like you've got most of the good ones.
How about The Secret Garden and A Little Princess? And of course Heidi and American Girls {the older ones}.
I was a huge fan of the Gone-Away set myself.

Definitely Heidi. I read that one over and over and over.
I also loved Black Beauty, King of the Wind, the Hobbit, and Alice in Wonderland.

YES YES YES!!
I think I was the only kid at St. Odilia's to take this book out of our school library. I read it at least twice every school year.
And yes, I have my own copy now and my dd11 loves it, too!

Having gone to public school for most of my life, with a few years spent at a rather liberal private school, I was surprised when I started reading booklists on traditional/classical homeschool sites to see how many good books I actually HAD been exposed to during childhood!
My absolute favorites are The Witch of Blackbird Pond and the Narnia series, anything Louisa May Alcott, and the Little House books.

I read The Little Princess about 12 times! 
Also read The Great Brain series many times.
And Heidi a couple times...

Okay, I feel so silly. I have been searching for a favorite book from childhood for several years...it was a book of Greek myths, and it had a version of Pandora's Box that has remained in my memory all this time, because of the depiction of "hope" in contrast to the other troubles that were let loose.
Turns out I must have had a copy of Hawthorne's Wonder Book when I was a child, apparently, because I just found the story at the Baldwin Project...feels like I found an old friend!

I always adored the Anne of Green Gables series. Little women was a favourite. Though I will admit to a dramatic streak as a child that had me convinced I would die at 19 from scarlet fever because my name is Beth too. (7 year old drama queens...my grandmother always said I was destined for the stage!)
Wind in the WIllows, I read anything and everything by Lewis Carroll and horrifyingly enough my Mother used to read this ultra creepy rendition of the Raven to me that scared me to wits but that I simply adored.
I read a lot of Enid Blyton (The Sullivan Twins at St.Clare and the Mallory Towers series mostly) I loved the What Katie did stories.
I read anything I could get my hands on. My mother never censored my reading....(I admit to being a little in awe of that....and a little scandalised by it too)
I read a small paperback once called "Along the Oregon Trail" and I loved it, though I can clearly remember the cover I cannot remember the author.
I love to read classics and if you looked in my handbag you'd see a battered copy of Wuthering Heights that goes everywhere I go like a security blanket! Jane Eyre is another favourite.
Depending on my mood then and now my favourite book was always determined by whether I wanted to lose myself in another time or be confronted by an issue.
My all time favourites though are myths and fairytales.

Every summer I would read The Secret Garden. Funny thing is, I don't remember why. I was just talking to ds about it yesterday as he was telling me his reading plans for the summer(Redwall, again  ). I remember the story,and I am now on a quest to find time to read it this summer to try to figure out why I was so fond of it. In the summertime. Hmmm...
Love all the suggestions here. I hope to have a little extra time, after reading The Secret Garden, to try a few listed here.

I loved The Five Little Peppers! I recently found The Five Little Peppers Midway at my thrift shop - did you know there is a whole series? http://c.web.umkc.edu/crossonm/fivelittlepeppers.htm lists them all.

Ah yes, I reread The Five Little Peppers! I never found all of the series, but read most of them.
The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankwiler was one of my favorites, too. It really captured my imagination.
I used to check out Half-Magic by Edward Eager. Our library only had this book, not the rest in the series.
Almost every book mentioned here I have read more than once. What does that tell about my personality? I admit it! I like to reread books!
