Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Crown of the World--Book 1: Knight of the Temple

more info here

Has anyone read it? I'm thinking of getting it for my 18-yo, and if it's okay for our soon-to-be-13-yo, it will be his birthday present.

Hi Stef,
I have previewed this book and I think it's good for high school. It's the story of a guy who joins the Knight's Templars after the First Crusade. It's historically fascinating, though the writing is at times amateurish - expected for a novel written when the boy was 15. That should not deter your dd from it. Though .. . it is a boy's story about a turbulent time (turks trying to take back Holy Land and loosen slim hold that the CHristians had on it at the time).

Also there is some talk of the infidelity and adultery of the times - maybe not for a 13-year-old (you'll have to decide that after dd reads it and gives her opinion).
Hope that helps.
Margot

We have it on order. We know the author!    He comes from a good family and is very bright! His mom did tell me to pre-read it to decide what age it would be appropriate for in our family. We're proud of him!

How exciting! You should be proud of him! I'm proud of him! What an exciting thing to see these young people writing fiction books for others! It is neat to see!
