Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are about to embark on another road trip. My middle dd goes through books like water. She is my most annoying...I mean, she doesn't like car travel as much as the others. So, the best thing is to keep her supplied with books. She's 5 going on 6 but is reading on about the 5th grade level. Any suggestions? She's read every single American Girl book, Cobble Street cousins, more than half of the Cam Jansen, read most of the Little House books.

I'd love any and all suggestions. I want to get books she would like and the others will enjoy them as well (except for my son and he doesn't read much--watching all the cars is enough entertainment for him).

The First Farm in the Valley series by Anne Pellowski

Similar to the Little House books.

Also, my daughter just finished reading the All-of-a-kind Family series and she really enjoyed it. It's about a Jewish family of five girls and one boy who live in New York on the eve of WWI.

She is also enamored with anything by Louisa May Alcott especially her Fairy Tales.

anne of green gables would be good but not the whole series.. there's lots of things in the later books that I would not want a not yet 6 yr to be reading about.

I second this one. My dd was a reader at 6 devouring all of the Little House books along with the prequels and sequels (maybe these would be good choices if your daughter hasn't read them yet). She loved the First Farm in the Valley series, and still does. I read them, and heartily recommend them too.

God bless,
Christine

A couple of suggestions:

Because of Winn-Dixie and The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo

any of the Freddy the Pig series by Walter Brooks

Igraine the Brave by Cornelia Funke

The Just So Stories by Rudyard Kipling
