Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Would be perfect if you're doing a unit on Newfoundland or dogs, or glaciers...

Star in the Storm

It says it's geared toward at least 4th grade. But my oldest child is 6 1/2 and he loved it. Of course there are a few words over his head, but most young children can appreciate a good plot I've found.

So there's that!

Sounds Like a keeper! Not too sad I hope. We just can't handle the death of pets. Any advice on that issue with this book, with out giving anything away?

Without giving anything away, I can definitely say that this book is NOT sad at all.

(If you are very sensitive, there is one minor death of a particular creature who is not exactly a "pet", but is not a main character at all.)
