Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are using the study guide (on right hand side, click on Nature Study Through Living Books) from Queen Homeschool Supply for My Side of the Mountain and really enjoying it.

Jackson is putting together his own booklet from all the activities that he's completed after reading each chapter. It's a great project for a boy !!! Especially one who hates to write .

Donna,
This looks great! Can you describe it a little bit more? What kind of activities you do? What age is your son? My son is 8 and this sounds like something he will enjoy.
Thanks for the link to Queenhomeschool, btw. I never heard of them but they have some neat stuff.

Sure!
My son is 12 but the unit study would surely work for an 8yo.
Some of the activities include...listing the foods that Sam eats while on the mountain, sketching trees and their fruit, recording the average temperatures in the Catskill Mountains for each season, charting the average snowfalls, sketching animals that Sam encounters, defining terms, researching how a hunter tracks a deer, discussing why Sam needed to ventilate his "tree" home after installing the fireplace, researching different methods of tanning......and many many more.

Jackson loves this part of the day!!! Sometimes we spend 2 hours doing the activities....just because !!!
