Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are in the middle of reading Louisa May Alcott's Little Women and enjoying it immensely. After dinner tonight, we decided to play a game from the book called "Rigamarole." It is a story telling game in which the players take turns telling and continuing a story. One player begins and tries to leave off at a particularly dramatic moment, allowing the next player to continue, often with hilarious results. The best part is that the story does not need to be "good"--outlandish or absurd plot developments are encouraged, so there is no pressure on the players to cause them to shy away from the game.

All of the children, even the five and three year olds, contributed, and we rambled on long enough for each member the of the family to take three turns or more. One of my daughters loves to tell original stories, and the others usually take on the role of contented listeners. It was lovely to see my "listeners" on their feet animatedly directing plot twists and contributing creative gems of their own.

Try this game over breakfast tomorrow. It's a hoot!

What a good idea. Outlandish stories are right up our alley!

Alice,
The girls and I played this the other day.

Our story took on a life of its own...some parts sounding like familiar fairy tales, other parts sounding like familiar family tales, and other parts sounding like the most ridiculous tales...
