I know many of you have done a Beatrix Potter unit -- but we're just finishing ours -- we saw the cutest video last night: The Tales of Beatrix Potter -- this was a ballet done in 1971 that is danced by the Royal Ballet (British). It is so charming and well-done...all the characters come alive and my kids got a kick out of reiterating the stories to Dad who didn't have the benefit of hearing mom read them .
There is also a book, writte by Rumer Godden, The Tale of the Tales, which is sadly OOP but check your library -- that's where we found ours! It's wonderful.
For background on our unit, I've been reading The Journal of Beatrix Potter -- it starts out quite chatty about all the things going on in her life. About half-way through, it starts getting into her sketching and animals and it's just a delight! This was translated from her secret writing. She wrote it between the ages of 15 and 30-ish.
We'll finish up the unit with the kids practicing some nature sketches ala Beatrix -- copying one of hers and then going out and practicing on a leaf or branch from the yard! They're excited to try it.
Enjoy!

Erica: Thanks for the compliments but, please, don't be in awe, if I lived in San Diego, I would be spending much less time at the computer...... (of course, actually, I should say somewhere up north as I grew up in SF and we start of think California stops just south of Monterey )
Blessings!
