My 11 year old son is looking for new books to read in the adventure genre. He has been asking about The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer - is anyone familiar with it and any thoughts?

My 14 year old ds voracious reader read it and loved though I haven't read it myself. He said there is nothing objectionable in it, but keep in mind that he is a 14 year old boy and might think someone getting a head chopped off is OK. It has Viking berserkers in it.
