Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

OK all yo guys that have been on here a long time ... about 2 years ago (definitely before May 2006), we discussed a series of books ... young-adult/teen that were about a family in Denver (?) who had typical family adventures. It seems they were from the late 50s/60s and were a wonderful loving family (maybe the dad was a widower, lawyer)?

Catie and I were trying to figure out the name of the family -- Catie thinks it might start with an "M" -- Molloy or something, pretty Irish we think.

So, any guesses?

Mary - you might want to edit the thread title - I thought we were trying to stump Tim.

Oh, and the only Denver series I can think of is the Little Britches series - Ralph Moody author. But they are set earlier in the century and the mom is widowed.

Mary G,
Little Britches is GREAT! Even if its not the series you're looking for... you GOTTA read them if you haven't yet!
The father dies at the end of the first book. And yes, they were Irish.

No it's not Little Britches -- we read the first one and the kids weren't thrilled with it (and, honestly, neither was I).

This is one of those family series that ages with the kids ... I think an older sister gets married ...

I am not an old timer, but your description made me think of this series, The Tuckers, I read growing up, but I don't remember enough about it to know whether its exactly what you are looking for or not. Both parents are definitely alive, though.

Okay - I believe it's Beany Malone. I haven't read them so that's why I didn't think of them. I found them searching Colorado juvenile fiction at the library.
