Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a Cinderella-mad first-grader so thought I would just go with the flow and ordered a whole bunch of Cinderella stories from all around the world. Other than the geography aspect, does anyone have any ideas on how to pull this all together? Any Cinderella stories I shouldn't miss?

I thought about a world map with thumbnail prints of the books placed ont he apporopriate country, or maybe a Cinderella passport? I saw that there is a guide available but after looking at it on Amazon it looks pretty basic. I'd love to make a lapbook or notebook but I'm not having any brainwaves yet.

Thanks!

There's a Cinderella book (sorry, no time right now and I can't remember the title!) that weaves together many different Cinderella stories around the world into one story. The end result was a bit unusual but still enchanting. My 5-yo really loved it! Maybe your librarian can help?

Or I'll try to find it by tomorrow and post again.

Katie did you see the other recent thread on Cinderella Around the World?

And a thread on a particular Cinderella story from Mexico:
Little Gold Star

Oooh, Mary, no I didn't. Thanks for pointing me there. Stef, that book sounds great. No library here but maybe I can find it on Amazon?

Katie.

One thing that we do when we do a unit like this with different versions of a classic story or fairy tale is to compare and contrast the stories. We talk about what is different in the stories, what is the same, what the different symbols are in each story and how they fit into the culture or geography of that place. Those ideas could be incorporated into a lapbook or notebook.

You could also have a child wirte or tell her own Cinderella story based on some local history or geography of the area you live in.

So far we have done the Cinderella stories, Gingerbread Boy storeis, and Little Red Hen stories. Very fun.

Edited to add: There is a cute craft book called Crafts from your Favorite Fairy Tales.. It has a great craft for Cinderella of a paper doll that flips from rags to ballroom dress.
