Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm pre-reading Hitty - The First Hundred Years-- and I really like the possibilities of the many rabbit trails. Are there any good unit studies out there? I know Above and Beyond Fiar has one -- is it worth the money? I know its for 7th graders, but could I do it with my littles? Any other studies out there?

Hello Mary,

Five in a row has a unit study on Hitty. It is in the Above and Beyond Five in a Row Group.
Bet you will like it.

I haven't done it yet (the FIAR unit), but a dear friend of mine who is very relaxed schooling minded did it with a 9th grader and a 5th grader and *loved* it.

Thanks folks -- after having pre-read, I think we'll wait till the spring or summer to "row" it...

Does anyone else have a unit study suggestion?

I noticed recently that Live and Learn Press has a lot of unit studies that are geared to middle/older elem. students.

I'm getting ready to start Beyond FIAR with my almost 11 yr old dd in January. I picked up a lapbooking kit for two of them to make life more interesting (Sarah Plain and Tall at HOAC and Homer Price at FIAR digital). I can't say I've used it yet, but I've read the manuals a million times now and like what I see. I think they'd be very easy to include your littles in since the stories are fun. I'd start with vol. 1 though, because the least serious books are in that one (Boxcar Children, Homer Price, Thomas Edison and one more that escapes me at the moment).
