Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Our co-op book club begins in August and the starting book is "Trumpet of the Swan".
Good choice, I thought! My 12 yr old ds has already read "Stuart Little" and "Charlotte's Web" so this was a well-rounded fit. Someone else selected the "Black Pearl" for later in the year.

So now it was time for me look over the book selections I had down for him to read this year and get with him on the one he wanted to do for his book club presentation. I thought "Old Yeller" would be a good one and he'd like that.

So I packed up "Trumpet of the Swan" and "Old Yeller" for him to read on the way to San Antoinio and back again.

Well, today at Wal-Mart, Kayleigh was getting a
word puzzle book to take on the trip and Garrett showed up at my side
with one of C.S. Lewis' Narnia books. He asked if he could have
it. We don't have this book (Prince Caspian) and I didn't remind
him that we listened to part of it on tape last year. Evidently he had forgotten about that.

I'm standing there thinking, "Great! my slow reader is actually
wanting to buy a book! He wants to read C.S. Lewis! Yea!"    I was impressed that he was coming to me on his own wanting a book.

I have high hopes ---with the knowledge of a six hour drive ahead of us---that he'll get hooked into Lewis' world and want to stay there...at least another 6 books worth. : )

If he begins this book on the trip and sticks with it, I won't say a
word about Swans, Pearls or Good Ol' Dogs. : ) Prince Caspian it
is! We'll stay in Narnia all year if that's where he wants to go. : )
