Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The Children of Hurin has just come out. It's currently 40% off at Amazon. As a big Tolkien fan, I can't wait to get a copy!

I was reading the review in WSJ yesterday. They have kept it under wraps and no one has seen it. Can't wait to read it.

I just got it and have not had a chance to read it yet. I was wondering if anyone knows about it's suitability for 11 yo ds. He wants it as a read-aloud.

Theresa,

We read aloud (to all 4 boys, though a lot went over the littles' heads, I'm sure) the version(s) in The Silmarillion and in Unfinished Tales. I can't remember all of the details at the moment, but I think that it would be fine. Of course, I don't know what was added in this more complete version, as we've received it but haven't started it yet.
