Hello! My name is Ellen. I am primarily a lurker on these pages, but have made a few posts as dappledbeing.

I am starting an online book discussion of The Great Tradition: classic readings in what it means to be an eduated human being

The book can be ordered from the Intercollegiate Studies Institute. The Great Tradition It is $16 or you can become a member of ISI for $15 and select two free books. (You also receive 40% off the rest of their books for an entire year.)

However, I suspect I will be able to link to most of the readings as they are in the public domain.

The discussions will take place in Google Wave. This is a new program, but looks as though it will be a good means for a book discussion. Since it is still in BETA (i.e. it hasn't been released to the public), I will send you an invitation to join. After you join Google Wave, I will add you to the discussion.

Just to clarify, you would not receive emails from this discussion. To participate, you logon to google wave and read posts there.

If you are interested in joining us, please send me an email indicating your interest and giving me your email so that I can send you an invite.
