What are you reading this summer?
I think we will read something on China and probably the little house series....again. I don't know what I personally want to read yet but am up for suggestions.

Personally, I'm reading Gladys Taber's Stillmeadow series and waiting for one of Susan Hill's books in the mail. 
I'm all into this domestic nurturing thing and summer is the perfect time to relax on a hammock and contemplate still meadows, apple trees, and kitchen windows.

Cay, do you really get to relax on a hammock?! I'm green with envy just thinking about it! 
I'm not sure about summer reading. Just trying to keep my head above water at this point. Maybe this thread will give me some inspiration!

 Molly, I don't even own a hammock.
It just made for good virtual imagery. Perhaps I get too much into this virtual reality thing, huh?
But I do plan to read and am reading. Can't escape that...nor do I want to.

I wanted to add...while you have lots of little ones who would keep you from relaxing in a hammock, I have lots of bigger ones who would never allow me to relax in a hammock.
Except on Mother's Day...of course.

HA!....I have had a hammock for about four years.......but it has never been hung! I have two acres.......but not enough trees........and I REFUSE to hang it in the sun!!!
Back to the regularly scheduled topic: Still working out my summer reading list! But, I know TWO books (Pamela Aidan) going on it (starting one tonight  )........and am considering North and South by Gaskell. I really want to watch the movie.....but I will not allow it till I have read the book

My neighbors have a hammock in our "shared-yard", and in the five years that we've lived here, I think I've been on it ONCE! And, I vividly remember after about 10 minutes, the toddler came out and told me me she was poopy.
I'm definitely going to read another novel by
Anya Seton this summer. Last summer I read three of them: Katherine (my fav), Dragonwyck, and Green Darkness.
Looking for suggestions too!!!!
And, I have Black Narcissus (Rumer Godden) on hold at the library.

I'm reading Manzoni's "The Betrothed". I'd never heard of him, but had heard of the book from devout friends. Did you know that Verdi's "Requiem" was written for the one year commemoration of Manzoni's death? I'm about halfway through -- it's lovely, a little long on the detail. the style is unusual in that the author is telling the story, often makes asides and has little "chats" with the reader. It's full of mysterious characters - sort of a modern day soap opera, but totally delightful and full of faith affirming incidents.
