Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Here is the thread from last year.

I read Katherine's-kjohnson recommendation First Fruits of Prayer last year and it was wonderful. Very different from anything I'd read in the past, as it's Easter Christian spirituality. Great Lenten reading.

Anyone have anything else they read last year and really liked?

What are you planning to read?

Bishop Bruskewitz recommended in his Southern Nebraska Register column "a careful, prayerful, and thoughtful study of our Holy Father's latest encyclical letter..." "Spe Salvi"

He also wrote: "The encyclical can be read on its own to anyone's spiritual profit, but placing is reading against the background of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (especially numbers 1817-1843; 2086-2092; 2657), against the background of his first encyclical, "God is Love" ("Deus Caritas Est"), and against the background of the Second Vatican Council's Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, "Joy and Hope", ("Gaudium et Spes"), can significantly enhance the benefits that could come to the reader."

So...I guess I'm going to try reading that, this year.

I just finished Happy Are You Poor and wanted to read more by Fr. Thomas Dubay, so I have Prayer Primer: Igniting a Fire Within and Deep Conversion/Deep Prayer on order. I'll be watching this thread for other suggestions.

Excellent question, Suzanne.
I have been reading Mother Teresa: Come Be My Light and I have a sneaky suspicion that it will minister to me throughout Lent.

I'm not only reading it. I'm studying it by candlelight. It's such a spiritual light!

I'll be re-reading I Believe in Love and also In Conversation with God for daily meditations.

I think I'll probably work through some parts of Introduction to the Devout Life again--I always seem to come back to that one!
