I hope this isn't an offensive recommendation because it is a book of private revelations given by Our Blessed Mother (who better to teach us) to a young mother. It was life-changing for me, and very practical. You'll have to find a used copy as it is out of print. Here's a link to Amazon:
The Apostolate of Holy Motherhood
Full of really practical helps!!! HTH!

I want to read Holiness for Housewives by Van Zeller. Here is a review.
I've enjoyed Your Vocation of Love by Agnes Penny.

I was just reading Mothers of the Saints which is an interesting set of biographies of women who raised saints or were mothers and became saints. I liked seeing the common threads among these women, however there is a caveat. Although it seems the author is Catholic, there are two "saints" who aren't Catholics, notably the "Mother of Methodism." Also, there were points where I disagreed with the author's commentary on the women's actions or they seemed odd coming from a Catholic. However, I liked the chapter length biographies and the lessons I drew from them.

Dear Monica,
Have you read Story of a Family? This is about St. Therese's family and tells us about the ways Zelie Martin taught the girls the faith. Also, a smaller book, The Mother of the Little Flower by Celine Martin may be helpful for motherhood. This book is published by TAN.
God bless you,
Mo Hill
