I have just recently read the term 'a spiritual communion' for the very first time.
It was in a rosary meditation..I think it was stated as..."make a spiritual communion" , but I am no longer sure.
I just skipped that part of the rosary meditation, because I had no idea what it meant. Today, I read the term again in one of the 4real blogs.
Could anyone help me out here?

Stephanie, Spiritual communions are offered usually when we cannot receive Jesus sacramentally in Communion at Mass. It is a wholesome thing to do this daily if you cannot go to daily Mass. Spiritual communions can be offered many times in a day as well - always uniting yourself with the sacramental Jesus in a spiritual way. Often too, you can face the nearest tabenacle to your home, imagining you are the presence of Jesus there.

From memory Helen had a beautiful write up on her blog, of how she has cultivated this in the lives of her children? I think that is right.

EWTN always says a Spiritual Communion, out loud at their communion time with their broadcasted Mass, this is very appropriate as this Mass goes out to alot of people who cannot get to daily Mass, or might be completely house bound.

Here is an example:

Spiritual Communion


My Jesus in the altar,

you are waiting for me.

I cannot now receive you,

so please come to me.

Come into my heart.

Oh, how I love you!

Change me, dear Jesus.

Make me, like you.

Amen.


An Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be seperated from You.

But I still think there is something else I had read on Helen's blog that talked specifically about teaching children in this holy practise?
