Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have a question regarding my dd's First Communion Prep. For our parish, I have to use the materials that the rest of the school kids are using, but I can do them at home (for which I am grateful!).
Now I may be being nit-picky, but something I read in the booklet she is to complete didn't sit right with me. I'm wondering if some of you could help me to: a.) see that this is fine and that I need
not worry, or b.) see that this is not in line with the Church and I need to be cautious of how it is presented to my dd. Okay, here's the quote:
"A child should recognize that Jesus is really present with us in the signs of his body and blood." My concern here is the word "signs". I have come to understand that they are not "signs" but the real thing. The word "signs" to me, makes it rather confusing. What do you think?
While we're at it there's something else as well. This quote:
"We who share the body of Christ are to become the body of Christ". How can we do that? I know we are the body of Christ as a community, but isn't there a difference between that "body" and the real "Body" that is received at communion? Sorry to start your week with such questions. I just really have to be careful as our parish is rather liberal. I go through everything
with a fine-tooth comb. The problem is, my own Catholic education wasn't so great, so I am re-learning everything as I homeschool.
Thanks for your help!

P.S. If any of you are on the DYOCCfamilies group you might recognize this post. Sorry! Just looking for answers from all of my learned cyber-friends!

Becky,
I don't really have an answer for you. I thought I would post, though, to bump it back up because it looks like you didn't get an answer. Sometimes, I think many of us plan to think out an answer and it gets lost in our brains!

I hope someone can help you out.
