Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

A friend (Catholic hs mom of 8) told me about this bible a few years ago. We have really enjoyed it, and I recently lent it to another CHS mom and she loves it, too, and spends a week on each chapter. The first mom said one of her sons would listen to this every day during quiet time in his room and now he had a great knowledge of most Bible stories.

Word and Song Bible

It is published by Protestants but I have found nothing contrary to our faith in it. It features a chapter for each book in the Bible, omitting the books in the Catholic Bible. Most stories have a related song, sung by children. The voices in the stories are Christian music artists, and include sound effects where needed. I like it also because it's in between an easy reader format and the Fr. Lovasik children's Bible that we have, so it's not bad at all to read out loud. Our youngest doesn't like the songs so I just read the stories to him without the music. They are the perfect length for bedtime stories.

My version is book + cassette that I got off ebay. The link is to amazon, for a book + cd format.

By the way, the illustrations are nicely done: cartoons but not too realistic and not too goofy-cartoony, either.

Love,
Kelly
