LOVE IT! I think I requested a sample issue a month or so ago (Dawn's recommendation on her blog, I think). Anyway, it came today and having just leafed throught it briefly I already know that I'll be subscribing.
Now, for my confession, of sorts. I'm not Catholic. I hope I'm still welcome here. I attended a Lutheran church growing up so some of the liturgical stuff is familiar to me. My husband and I and our children are members of a non-denominational Independant Bible church.
We belive in salvation through grace and faith. We love our church. We love our church family. But after reading these boards and a lot of your blogs I find myself missing the liturgical traditions. If not for you ladies,
I would not have made the baby Jesus baskets with my 5 yo twins (and given one to a girlfriend for Christmas) I would not have had the joy of sharing the Tomie dePaola books and activities with my children. Thank you Alice and Elizabeth! Today we read the dePaola book about the Three Wise Kings and made star cookies and will make crowns after dinner tonight to celebrate Ephiphany. All of this and more because you ladies integrate your faith with your family in a way I've never been privileged to be a part of before.
Thank you all for sharing, my family is riche because of you.

Welcome, Kelly!
I loved receiving Faith and Family magazine too in the past, although I let my subscription slide at one point. I enjoyed hearing about how you have integrated some ideas from the ladies here into your family's spiritual life.

I love receiving Faith and Family as well - I have been getting it for a year now. I really enjoy reading it when it arrives.

Would anyone be willing to part with a past issue so that I could sample this? I've been wanting to see this magazine for quite some time but I haven't seen in stores here and they won't send a sample to Canada.
Please PM me if you're willing to part with one...

Didn't know they didn't send the free issue outside the US.
Taffy, unfortunately I won't part with my copies as I am quite fond of them - but...I do have extra copies of a few issues. They send them to me when I do displays at our local Catholic homeschool conference. We're part of their promotion program because it can be a fundraiser for our local group.
If anyone ends up ordering a subscription our local group can get a kickback if you use the card with our number on it. I can send in a card for anybody who would like the free sample issue.
Taffy, PM me with your address and I'll send you one of the sample copies I have.

Taffy, I wish I had a past issue for you, but I do not. Faith and Family is so wonderful! I really need to subscribe.

Thank you for your gracious words. I've really enjoyed the time spent here in the past month or so and am looking forward to learning more about the liturgical church year and sharing it with my family.

Faith and Family is my very favorite magazine, the one I read cover to cover when it comes! And to think the editor, Danielle Bean is a homeschooling mom of 8 who works out of her home!
Those of you who know me, know that I have a piece coming in May/June in Faith and Family about my little Christina, who has Down Syndrome, as a sidebar to an interview with the author of a book entitled "Defiant Birth" about you brave women out there who gave birth in the face of negativity from the medical profession.
When Danielle Bean asked for stories of women whose unborn child had had a bad prognosis, I passed it on to my homeschool network, and was literally flooded with the most beautiful courageous stories I have ever read! I asked to reprint them on my blog, and perhaps, there's another book coming out someday. . .someone needs to tell our Culture of Death, that children are always gifts to be treasured, no matter what.
