Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone ever attended this course at their church? Our parish is starting a 10-week course in late January and I'm curious about it. I'd like to hear what folks here have to say about it.

I don't know too much about it so take what I say with a pinch of salt.

I've heard that all that is says is true, but it doesn't say everything. In other words, it's pretty evangelical.

Who's going to write a Catholic Alpha course??

Elizabeth

Thank you for your thoughts, Elizabeth.

I had always thought of Alpha as a Protestant thing. I've seen signs in front of other churches, "Alpha is coming!" and now one is hanging outside our church. One of my very best friends is Presbyterian (sp?) (born and raised Catholic, though) and she *loved* the Alpha course which she attended with her husband. She raved about it to me and urged me to go with my husband (at my church). I am not really wanting to do this - especially if it is a "beginner" course - but I thought I should find out more about it just to know what it is I'm saying "no" to.
