Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Looking for ideas on how to make stained glass windows from tissue paper...or other ideas...to put into our Catholic Mosaic lapbooks.

Has anyone done this? Any suggestions on how?

I have found a couple ideas on this- I just wrote them down, but don't remember where I found them, so I am "linkless."

One is to take crayon shavings, colors of your choice, put between waxed paper, press with iron, and put a border on it, or put between a die-cut of any design, like a cross. Hang in window.

The other is to take a piece of tracing paper, put over a simple design, and trace it. Then take assorted colors of cellophane (or tissue paper could work, too,) and place the papers inside the different sections that were traced, taping them down on edges. Then, take thin black strips of paper, cut to correct size to lay over the spaces of cellophane. Paste into place. Cover with another sheet of tracing paper. Hang in window.
I am planning on making "stained glass" windows with the boys while looking at churches and cathedrals during our middle-ages this year.

After checking out the link, from MacBeth, my boys are now also filled with plans for their own lego cathedral. We'll see what all evolves!

I sure hope I explained these well enough!

Donna,
One of the Seton Art books has instructions on how to make a stained glass window. I'm on my way out the door but I'll look for it when I return.

Also, Dover has a nice stained-glass coloring book. The coloring "see-thru frames" are all outlineed in black.

Donna, my oldest (11) has enjoyed making window stars out of transparency paper (a bit thicker than tissue). We hang them in windows, and they're fairly flat.

We bought Rose Windows & How to Make Them from Hearthsong which is a similar craft, but in the image of cathedral windows.

These may not be what you're looking for, but thought I'd mention them!

Oh I like the rose windows! Jogged my memory that dh and I bought a book on rose windows, back bc (before children!) while visiting a chapel at Duquesne University. They had the most beautiful windows! Dh and I bought a book on them. Now, I just have to figure out where it is .

I am adding the kit and idea to our list ! And now will search some of our local Detroit churches for some in person views.

Thanks, Dawn, for this link!

God Bless,
