I have never seen any Church History book for this age group. I was thinking in reading First Christians (Hunt) for the story of the early Church.
Besides that I am stumped..

What other resources are there appropiate for his age?

I bought Great Moments in Catholic History to read with my son this year.

Could you tell me more about it? Is it suitable for a 9 yo? How do you use (or plan to use it)?

Great Moments in Catholic History has one page to each 'event' in Catholic history along with a black and white drawing. At the back of the book there is five questions to each page for you to test the child with.

Those books look good, I have not heard of them before, I am always on the look out myself for more books of what you are wanting, one that you could read like a novel would be good as I love history!
