Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Enjoyed this blog post from Emily Stinson - Sacrifice all the Things: A Loser's Guide to Winning Lent

- I wanted to post a poll on "what are you doing for Lent?" but figured that might foster competition...

So, any thoughts on the article? I found myself nodding to picking the unrealistic penance (the year I gave up being "right") Didn't last very long - wasn't realistic in the sense I could really give it up - but it did make me more aware of my words and actions - so hopefully some improvement...

Love this post. I so agree. Years ago someone said "make sure that what you give up is not somebody else's penance!!!
