Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi all! A friend is asking if the Catholic Children's Bible is worth buying, but I don't have any firsthand experience with it, I only have Monica McKonkey's review (positive) and the cautionary note from Adoremus. All I know is that I'm not very familiar with the publisher, and haven't seen it discussed much in Catholic homeschooler circles. I remember coming across it years ago but decided to pass on it. I believe this is a newer edition.

Has anyone bought it, and could you share your thoughts about it? Thanks in advance.

First checking the sample pages from the link you gave, the Bible does have appropriate approvals and the layout seems attractive and useful.

There's a fairly through review at goodreads here which may also be useful.

I fully agree with the reviewer about the translation used, sacrifices in precision and style were made in order to make it easier to read.

BTW I couldn't find the adoremus review for the Catholic Children's Bible although I found their review for the Catholic Youth Bible which is by the same publisher but uses a different translation and the study notes are in a completely different style aimed at teens.

I do think that the publisher is better with the products aimed at preteens as I've used the Breakthrough Bible and some of the other products which the publisher sells for middle school children with no issues but found the samples for teens completely unappealing.
