Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi!

I'm looking for an exceptional DVD on Saint Nicholas for a group of 9 year olds.

    Would you please recommend one?

As well, has anyone done a craft for this feastday that was met with great success?

Thank you!

Have you seen the Veggie Tales St. Nicholas movie? I think it's really cute and fun, but I'm sure you're all familiar with how goofy Veggie Tales videos are. Anyway, Catholic Deals posted a link where you can get it for $5.

Also, you can get the St. Nicholas CCC Movie. I'm not sure that I would describe it as "exceptional", but it is cute and super Catholic.

Those are the only 2 I know about. Good luck finding something!

Thank you Lacy!

I forwarded the same email to our Catholic HSing group, and 2 Moms replied letting me know they had copies of the ST. NICHOLAS CCC MOVIE you recommended. I'm going to go with that. I appreciate you writing to let me know

Nique, I've been thinking about your other question and been meaning to get back to it. I know St. Nick's day is coming - are you still looking for a group craft? We have done several of the crafts (in group setting) from the St. Nicholas Center site. There are some great crafts to choose from.

These are some of the ones I've done with a group. All went over well. The middle one is the most difficult. Top is easiest.

And there are several new ideas this year including this votive which I love.

Hi Mary,

Thanks for your post!   Yes, I've been to the Saint Nicholas Centre and felt like a kid in a candystore    So many ideas!

I'm going with the conversion of the chocolate Santa into Saint Nicholas, by simply adding a Bishop's hat and staff (already bought my materials from local stores).

I ordered their free bookmarks and posters and buttons (there was a small charge) as prizes for games (like throw the money into the chimney, as well, the kids will colour a picture of a shoe holding treats, which will be on bristol board with a hole punch and ribbon already tied to it, try to draw St. Nicholas..all ideas from the link you gave me)...just trying to come up with a few other games we can do, so to have different ACTIVITY CENTRES throughout the classroom. Ideally I'd like to have 4 or 5.

I'd like to do a short lesson on random acts of kindness as well.

I've got alot to get organized before the time comes.
Would you please keep me in your prayers? Thank you so much

Celeste, thank you! It went very well!!

We arrived with lots of time to set up, a couple of glitches, but not on our part. Upon arriving to their desks, the 28 students each found a St. Nicholas badge on their desks. The kids were drinking in everything I shared with them about good Saint Nicholas.

My older daughter (who is HS'd) read outloud about the famine/wheat miracle story, and she did a wonderful job. The lesson went extremely well (used some visual aids - a toy ship, a homemade Bishop's Miter, a crozier - Mom had a metal cane, and we improvised , an orange, gold chocolate coins, a fur hat, along with a story to go with each!

The "activity centers" were a hit - especially my dd's, where the kids converted a chocolate Santa into St. Nicholas. They also made mod podge St. Nicholas pins, coloured a shoe filled ornament with candy and toys inside, played "Toss the gold coins in the chimney", drew St. Nicholas according to the dice they rolled, and filled in a cross word puzzle.

All these ideas were borrowed from www.stnicholascenter.org ~ What a wonderful resource!

We had baked cupcakes with red sprinkles and a St. Nicholas gold coin on each (chocolate covered coin with a pic of the good Saint) that we passed out. And on their way out the door, they were given red bags with a sticker of the Saint on it, plus an icon bookmark, and prayer card inside.

The afternoon went by very quickly. Oh, did I mention they also watched the CCC video of St. N?

And I did a card trick

Thank you to each one of you for your ideas and prayers.

St. Nicholas is MY Patron Saint, and it was an honour for me to do this. My goodness, for all he's done for me
